Mtindo Network Development Initiative

Business Training & Enterprise Development

Across Africa, over 20% of working-age adults start a new business, and 75% of youth plan to launch one within five years (Brookings Foresight Africa 2024). Mtindo is equipping youth with skills, mentorship, and tools to successfully start and grow their businesses.

i. Economic Baraza Boot Camps

The Economic Baraza Boot Camps equip aspiring entrepreneurs and changemakers with practical skills, knowledge, and a growth mindset to launch and scale social enterprises. So far, it has engaged over 200 participants across Bwaise and Makerere, bringing together social enterprises, think tanks, businesses, policymakers, and development partners to foster collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving.

ii. i-Upshift Boot camps

In Kawempe- Kampala, Mtindo Network partnered with War Child Canada to implement the i-Upshift Programme, engaging 100 youth in the Integrated-Upshift Model. Funded by UNICEF, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the programme empowers young people to turn creative ideas into solutions for pressing community challenges.
Participants gain hands-on skills in entrepreneurship, problem-solving, digital literacy, and project design, while the top solution teams received seed funding to bring their projects to life, transforming innovative concepts into tangible social impact.

iii. Community VSLA Training for Youth and Women

With support from Slum Youth Rehabilitation and Development Organization and partners, Mtindo Network launched VSLA training in Kikaaya Parish, Kawempe Division, empowering youth and women to establish and manage Village Savings and Loans Associations. The program targets 70% women and female adolescents and 30% men and boys, boosting financial access and local economic growth. Participants gain group registration, bank account support, record-keeping tools, and entrepreneurship training.
Since launch, over 60 community members have benefited from this initiative, strengthening livelihoods and community resilience.

Mental Health & Career Pathways

Be the Change for Youth! Help us empower Kampala’s young minds with mental health support and career guidance.

The Mental Health & Career Pathways Project, a partnership between Mtindo Network Development Initiative and the Lyfe Network, supports young people’s mental well-being while guiding them toward clear, sustainable career paths.

Through mental health awareness, psychosocial support, and career guidance, the project helps youth build emotional resilience, make informed career choices, and transition confidently into education, entrepreneurship, or work. Our goal is to reach 1000+ youth, both in and out of school, in densely populated and vulnerable communities like Kawempe and Kamwokya, empowering them to thrive despite challenges.
